About Sarah
I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember. It has always been a pleasure for me and a form of catharsis. I can recall writing numerous short stories whilst in primary school, creating my own front covers using word art on the computer and I would print them off and show them proudly to my parents. My mother would enthusiastically read them, whilst my father would worry about how much ink I’d used from the printer! Now I know the cost of ink, he may have had a point!
As I started secondary school, I began to explore poetry, and I even won a local competition. As my teenage years were quite challenging, this new interest soon became a much needed emotional release, and I ended up filling many notebooks with my thoughts and feelings.
From around fifteen, with my love of rock and alternative music fully established, I started songwriting, even recording some songs with an electro-accoustic guitar. The ability to transform my angst, pleasure and pain into something creative, was a gift I don’t think I truly appreciated at the time.
As I entered college and university, writing became mostly about essays, dissertations and applications, and so for a while my more creative side was quashed by the world of academia. But in 2022, as I finished my Master’s Degree, I found myself connecting back to my childhood passion for story writing and the journey for writing Wings of the Spectrum began.
Since then I’ve been primarily writing fantasy, as this is not only a genre I personally like to read, but because it offers a form of escapism from the real world. But after working in Criminal Justice for over a decade now, I’ve also started dabbling in writing crime-themed short stories, one of which was short listed for the 2023 Wells Festival of Literature Short Story Award.
I hope anyone coming to my site, who may read anything I have written, gets as much enjoyment reading it, as I did from writing it.
May you have many happy adventures,
Sarah x
